CC Community Center Steering Committee Meeting - May 23, 2012 |
There will be a Cook County Community Center Steering Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 23 from 8:30 a.m. to Noon at the Jane Mianowski Conference Center located at Cook County I.S.D. #166. It is open to anyone who wishes to learn more about what is happening with the new community center project. Though this is not an official meeting of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, a quorum of County Commissioners may be in attendance at this Steering Committee meeting.

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 8:10 a.m. with the following members present: Sue Prom, Jeanne Anderson, Fritz Sobanja, Beth Schwarz, Paul Sporn, Diane Booth, Andra Lilienthal, Sue Hakes, Bob Fenwick (a bit later).
Additions / Changes to the Agenda: Fritz raised the following issue:
How do we get the information from the Steering Committee to the County Board? Concern about making sure the rest of the members of the County Board of Commissioners really understand all of the issues and the process that has taken place to date. Should the Steering Committee consist of all of the County Commissioners?

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011. 8-10-2011 Community Center Update |
At its July 26 County Board Meeting, the Board passed a motion to suspend further Community Center design activity until a) the location for the proposed facility is identified, and b) the City of Grand Marais is able to participate in the project. County contracts with ORB Management for Community Center construction management and Meyer Group for Community Center design have been suspended with the exception of the site evaluation process. The County has invited the City Council to a joint County/City work session on 8/23/11 to discuss the matter of the City's participation in the project. The Steering Committee is meeting Wednesday August 10 from 8 AM to Noon at the Community Center to discuss the facility location. As always, the Public is welcome to observe these meetings.
