| Biomass Energy Feasibility Project |
![]() Biomass energy and its use in Cook County is discussed in a report submitted to the Cook County Commissioners on September 20. A study conducted by Dovetail Partners, the University of Minnesota , and LHB, Inc., examines different biomass systems and costs for private homes, businesses or public buildings, and community-wide district heating. It also estimates the amount of biomass currently and potentially available from Firewise and timber harvests in the county. The report completes Phase I of a two-part study. Phase II focuses on environmental impacts of biomass energy, and implementation details of the most promising options. Meetings are being planned with community and stakeholder groups to discuss and assess support for biomass energy.
