Power Being Restored – Struck Pole Resulted in Outage

January 7, 2018, 11:50 pm – The cause of the power outage that affected a large portion of the City of Grand Marais and outlying area east of the City tonight, has been at attributed to a power pole that was struck near the Little League Field on Creechville Road.

The Public Utilities Commission has indicated that the majority of customers, with the exception of Creechville Road, should already be restored. Linesmen expect to have the problem totally repaired and all customers back on line within the hour.

The Emergency Shelter which was opened at the Cook County Senior Center earlier tonight, will remain open until all service has been restored and as long as the need remains for citizens.
